Sept 27, 2013, from Fairhope, Alabama to New Roads / False river, Louisiana, a great flight along the Gulf coast

6600 ft of runway in Fairhope is just enough for our fully loaded C172...

This morning, we leave from Fairhope/Point Clear, Alabama and make a short hop to Dauphin Island, a small 3000 ft airport on the Gulf

3000 ft of runway sticking into the water...

as we are there, the only airplane on the field, we see swiss technology at work.

A military PC12 comes in for touch and goes from a nearby base

we proceed west bound on the shore

We land in Pycayune, Mississippi, for refueling and to tick off one more state of our list.
This "funny" WATER truck is actually pumping JetA1 fuel into its "water" tank, and goes out into the fields to feed helicopters doing spraying jobs. The platform on top of the truck allows the helicopters to land on it, and to be refueled, avoiding the need to land on dirty or wet soils

In Picayune we can use the FBO's small car to go to lunch in town

while the lady keeps the shop covered with dried "treffles a 4 feuilles".

The flying day ends in False River, Louisiana, where Pat and Mac wait for us

we will enjoy a fantastic welcome at their ONE BRIDLE RANCH just outside of Baton Rouge, LA

Mac and Pat are horse lovers, actually animal lovers
they participated in many parades with their horses over the years

Mac and his saddles in the saddle room of the ranch

this is what you can achieve with an old rubber car tyre

time to go for dinner.... it is still hot

therefore a good cool beer before leaving

this is the Cajun place where dinner will take pace

and the happy bunch enjoying dinner
