Sept 23+24, 2013, in Bartow, checking the orange groves and waiting out the bad weather

It is raining heavily in Florida...........

we spend the day driving around Florida

The men with white striped trousers are "Chain Gang", prisoners close to the end of their time, working on road maintenance, under the supervision of a guard.

you need to know more about the "Chain Game"?, go to "Google", and look for "CHAIN GANG",
or go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2XHYKWLGTg

Bill writes the following comment:
This is the classic picture of the "Men Working on the Chain Gang", really a southern  US tradition, usually with Negro prison inmates to do work around the cities and especially on the road.  They almost always have a white stripe on the pants, so everyone knows they are prisoners.

Having you been injured on a car accident?    ...     call the "ambulance chasers"

visit to Bill's orange groves, oranges are still too early to pick.

Our car needs an oil change, for 19.99 usd, we get an oil change in 20 minutes

need a gun ?... stop at the Pawn shop

 Lunch at "Olive Garden"

Bartow tower is being repainted, and 100 LL is less than 1/2 the price from home...

A house for less than 5.000 USD?

Visit to the "Circle Bar Ranch", a natural park close to Hancock Lake in Central Florida

... and visit to the Lakeland (Home of Sun and Fun) Museum

Tomorrow, Wednesday Sept 25 is another rainy day.
Werner will land at 6.00 pm from Zurich. As we can t fly to Miami, I will drive 4 hours to Miami to pick him up, and drive another 4 hours back to Bartow.
Weather should improve Thursday Sept 26, when we plan to leave on our tour.

  2. Good to see that you Bill are giving Louis a solid introduction to American culture - and it seems that Louis is enjoying it fully.
The rain may be a pain for you Louis but probably good for Bill's orange trees! That's good for the friendship.
Good to have seen your Photo Bill - maybe one day we may meet again!
    Regards,
    Richard
