Bad luck, this is the day where a cold front swings through
Texas, and the temperatures dropped from the mid 80’s (24-27C) to the low 50’s
(barely over 10C), with strong NE winds at 12-15 kts, which makes it feel much
cooler.
Ask those ladies...
Ask those ladies...
We turned N985GE back to its owner, we are now starting the most dangerous part of our trip…. By car.
This week end is full of activities.
First, we go to the NASCAR race track where they have
organized a meeting of old classic cars. I guess there must be about 2.000 of them
of different types, categories and age group.
The Fort Worth Alliance air show also takes place this week end: we will obviously attend.
Before leaving home, and “Merci beaucoup, Aérocontact
Lausanne” , I arranged for Press/Media passes for the air show.
Free admission, but 20 $ for parking
And is is an exciting show put together for us.
The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show is one of three shows in the USA to feature TWO military jet teams in 2012. See the jaw-dropping aerial performances of the US Air Force Thunderbirds hosted by Onsite OHS and the Canadian Snowbirds. Plus, see The Horsemen - the world's only P-51 demonstration team, a reenactment of the Pearl Harbor attack with TORA, TORA, TORA, Michael Goulian, the Super Hornet, F-86 Sabre Jets and much more!
So we are on the first row, watching the show in the best possible conditions.
Gone are the T-shirts and shorts; long trousers, long sleeves, pull overs and jackets are the uniform for the day.
Food everywhere, all types, sizes and colors.
We watch a mock up of the Pearl Harbor attack during WW2, “Tora Tora”, with stunning fly by’s in both directions of WW2 airplanes, both Japanese and USA, giving a very realistic impression of what this must have been.
Bombs explode all over the place, lightning up the ground!
Police forces patrol the site
The 2 videos below will give you an idea of the ambiance at the air show.
Not the best quality videos, but not too bad considering the limited equipment I had available.
On our way back from the airshow to dinner... click on the video below to watch another "spaghetti junction" just outside Dallas.
And dinner… again seafood, being in Texas, this seems obvious…
