Oct 5, from Amarillo (Texas) to NorthWest Regional (Texas)

This morning, Lorrie, the Holiday Inn driver, a retired US Air Force veteran, takes us back to the airport.

As an anecdote, he worked from age 23 to 43 in a HR function at the Air Force. Since then, and still today at age 76, he works as a driver for Holiday Inn to improve his pension.

The views change: fields close to canyons, rivers with dry beds and finally we see CLOUDS, which we have not seen during the whole trip.

We are heading back to the home base, but need to refuel in Wichita Valley.



Interesting “spaghetti junction” below us as we take off from Wichita.

Oil rigs (in activity and deserted) are to be seen on the way.

The local FBO is top notch.

Kitchen, rest rooms,  planning rooms…

We reach NorthWest, after 52 hours of flying, excellent weather all the way, no incidents, no accidents, no troubles, only good news.
Landing is into a strong wind on Rwy 35

 

We see a few nice old planes at the field, and drive for dinner, passing by the Peterbilt truck factory “warehouse” and a big Texan bull.

 As we are back in Texas, we decide to go for… … seafood dinner, oysters for a starter and MahiMahi filet.
