Oct 10. 2013, from Atlanta GA to Indian River, Florida

The morning we leave Atlanta, DeKalb Peachtree airport, we are parked next to another swiss technology product, a white/green painted Pilatus PC12
and all the way back there is our small Cessna C172SP

all the energy consumed must come from somewhere

we fly south towards Florida, cross huge mining fields, rivers in which the sky is mirrored and fires which seem to have been set for some unknown purpose,,, if anyone knows, let us know

We fly over thousands and thousnads of acres of farmed forest, and now and then we can see a clear cut in the forest, where they harvested the wood
the wood then ends up at a paper mill for transformation in paper or board

more fires....

a baseball training field, close to a school

and soon we cross the border from GA to FL       and land at Fernandina Beach to feed the bird

the signs in the toilet are self explanatory

great views along the shore southbound

and nice houses where we would not mind spending a week end

Lunch is at Flagler County airport

at the outdoor restaurant, not the healthiest food, but it keeps up going for the afternoon

we fly along many airports southbound

and we try to do a fly by at 500 ft over the runway at Cape Carnaveral, at the Space Shuttle Launch runway, but are declined the possibility. The tower is unmanned (Thanks to the Government shut down since Oct 1, 2013, and many federal employees being put on furlough)
Therefore we can only see the runway and the launch pad from far...

more airports on the way south

until we reach Patrick Airforce Base, where we are asked to climb to 2.000 ft, as a big C35 is going to fly below us and land there

the C35 is visible over the water, with its shade on the water, on final approach to Patrick, under us
more airfields...

Our destination is Indian River, a residential airpark, on a small grass inland of Vero Beach, where my friend Lars DeJounge lives since many years. He had just called the day before indicating he would be back in FL and waswaiting for us to visit with him.

Close to his airport is the INEOS new ethanol plant, based on vegetal waste.
The house in the middle of the photo is our destination

and soon we sit in the garden, a beer in each hand!

N5328Z is parked in the yard, with the hangar visible on the left, the house in the background, and the
 garage hidden behind the trees

sunset over the runway

Lars has his own "flying club", where he park his 1922 Rolls Royce in pristine condition, as well as his Tiger Moth

The Tiger Moth has been inported in the 1950's from Sweden, and still has some swedish markings on the plane

After this long day, dinner at home, no photos.........
