Sept 25, from Rapid City (South Dakota) to Missoula (Montana)

This morning we left Rapid City, South Dakota on the way West. After having visited the US Presidents at Mount Rushmore from the ground, we decided to say Goodbye to them from the air.
The Needles peaks were also visible as we left

Soon we encounter desert type of landscapes in Wyoming, where huge mining operations seem to take place

The country seems very dry and views extend to far away distances

We obviously need to feed our bird with some 100LL every now and then, which we did as we touched down in Buffalo, (Wyoming) and then in Bozeman (Montana)

We fly at FL 105 westbound and encounter some headwind, which did not disturb the comfort of our flight. (For non  pilots, FL 105 means 10.500 feet, or about 3.150 meters, over sea level)
We have time to enjoy the views in all directions.
Close to our destination of the day, Missoula (Montana), we cross very large canyon formations and the Big Horn River.
Landing in Missoula (Montana) with a 10 kts wind down the runway, and a landing clearance 10 miles out with a stright in approach is a pleasure, despite reduced visibility due to fires in the state of Idaho which blow smoke eastbound

We park our bird in Missoula (Montana) overnight after a total of 5.4 hours flown today. Time to rest and prepare for dinner.

For dinner, we walk over from our hotel to the "Montana Club" and enjoy a "light" meal of spare ribs with lots of local beers.

As we are of legal age, we can gamble at the "Montana Club Lounge" casino, but we will not disclose the amounts we won...

  1. I don't believe you've won anything at the casino, as I bet you didn't even play ;-)
