We wake up in Missoula (Montana).
So far we have touched 12 States in the first part of
Project 48.
After reviewing the
remaining states to visit and considering the time left before we head back
home, we realize we need to speed up and to make some shortcuts.
We planned to stop over in Kelso (Washington), but this has
to be left out…too bad.
Weather has so far been excellent, and the forecast for the
next few days is also good, this helps…
In Missoula (Montana), we are parked next to a nice Embraer VLJ Phantom, and after Werner calls home, we take off to the southwest on RWY 25.
This year due to the drought, the northwest has been plagued
with heavy forest fires; smoke limits visibility on the ground and in the air.
Reason why some of our pictures may look “hazy”…
Fires detection look out posts are visible all over.
Our first stop is in Kellog/Shoshone (Idaho) for fuel. A
nice FBO set up is available to pilots.
A nice FBO set up is available to pilots.
Next stop is Spokane/Felts (Washington).
On our way south, we fly over very rich agricultural areas and cattle feeding factories…
We reach Pasco (Washington) where we have another light meal
at “Florentyna’s” in good company of the local folks.
We fly over the Colombia River flying into Oregon.
Plenty of wind mill farms all around us.
We cross a mountainous area and have on both sides very high
mountains over 11.000 ft (about 3.000 meters).
On our right, we see Mt Hood (11.299 ft) and its glaciers,
and on the left Mt Jefferson (12.479f ft) while cruising at FL 65 between them.
Landing in Lebanon (Oregon), the 3rd new State
visited today, and the 15th of our Project 48 1st part.
Larry greets us on his airport, we refuel and get the
courtesy Lincoln for the night, so we can go to town for dinner and a hotel.
Tonight’s dinner consists of liquid only…(almost) after the “light”
lunch we had earlier today.
