Sept 20, from Lamar (Colorado) to Sioux City (Iowa)

The day started with a hearty breakfast of toasts and eggs at the ”Cow Palace” Hotel in Lamar.

The Yak 52 crew and the 2 of us went back to the airfield to prepare for the day trip.
While we did this, the 4 Yaks warmed up, shot into the air and before going on a mission, they offered us a private show, thanks Yak team !!

Very well done, Yak Team

On our way North East,  we cross Kansas and Nebraska at FL 55 and with a good tail wind of about 10 to 15 knots.

From above we can see that there is a serious issue with lack of water for irrigation due to much lower than usual rainfall.

Fields are yellow and there is an obvious shortage of crops.

After a refueling stop in Cozard (Nebraska), we land in Sioux City (Iowa) early afternoon.

We decide to drive the “Loess Hills National Scenic Highway”, a nice, hilly route south along the Missouri River on about 50 miles southbound towards Omaha (Nebraska).

On the way south, we meet Gage Lutz, training to beat the motocross world champion Antonio Cairoli in his home field of “Hot Rods Paly Pen”.

Thanks for the private show you made especially for us, and sorry we will miss the week end competition.

After we checked in at our new “Palace” in Omaha, we went for a well deserved steak and a couple of beers before hitting the sacks.

Tomorrow will be another day!
